After the strong winds of the last couple of days, the air was noticeably cooler, so I set off on a short 5km walk into town across the hills.
The sun seemed to be struggling to get up this morning, a little like me after a sleepless night. 😴
As I set off, I noticed the light had changed too. Dawn broke over the mango, chirimoya and avocado trees much more slowly than usual, with the sun hanging low for almost the whole of my hour-long walk. The shadows stretched further too, and the coolness lingered in the shade much longer.
It’s still only August, but there was something distinctly autumnal about it all.
Everything has seemed a little out of kilter this year. We had a longer, hotter June than I can ever remember, and a longer, wetter winter before that. It really does feel as though the seasons are shifting and settling into a different pattern or maybe, a constant flux.
Perhaps it was just one cooler morning after the recent winds, but it certainly made me stop and notice it.
Have you noticed changes where you are too?
