Luckily I’m Back 🤭
I’ve been away for the last couple of weeks. Firstly, I went to England to visit my sister for her birthday. A lovely week visiting London and Brighton, exploring Sussex gardens and then enjoying a bit of pampering.
However, things became challenging when I went to Gatwick airport to return home. There was a problem with my passport that seems to be well known. However, like the hermit-like woman I’ve become, living in my rural life bubble, I, of course, had heard nothing about it. 🤷🏼♀️
I was refused boarding … twice.
I explained desperately that I had to get home and, eventually, after producing my Spanish residency card and a near breakdown at the gate, I was allowed to board.
Touching down in Spain, has never felt so good!
On to the next challenge. My husband was waiting at the airport and our plan was to fly straight to Poland to celebrate his birthday. Of course, there was now no chance of that.
But I strongly believe that life’s challenges are there to keep us on our toes. Sometimes they seem overwhelming, but they often lead us somewhere we don’t expect.
Sometimes they help us learn, sometimes they develop our thinking or problem-solving, and sometimes they simply result in an alternative outcome.
And on this occasion, it led us down a different adventure. A Plan B we never envisaged, but which worked out just as well, if not better.
Luckily, we managed to reschedule the flights and accommodation for a Christmas trip. Yes, it will cost us a bit more money (thanks Ryanair), but my husband’s rescheduled birthday, here in Spain, worked out just perfectly.
I’ve come to realise that, however stressful situations are at the time, they often look very different once you’re on the other side of them. Sometimes what feels like a disaster is simply life nudging you towards a different path.
Now to sort out that pesky passport…
