M5. Where happiness lives

In a world that constantly measures and compares, it’s easy to forget the quiet joys that live around us. The things that don’t shout, but quietly lift the heart. I decided to pause and notice them, the small moments that make me smile, that bring warmth, that will continue to do so for as long as I am here.

I notice happiness…
Not in the big, loud moments.
Not in milestones or applause.
I find it in rain clouds finally clearing after months of grey.
In almond blossom venturing out in spring.
In a fresh bowl of homemade guacamole.
In a cup of tea at sunrise.
In warm breath drifting into a cool breeze.
In dew, glistening like jewels on a spider’s web.
In views that make me stop mid-step.
In the crunch of boots on a gravel path.
In flames dancing in a warm hearth.
In the innocent eyes of an animal eager to greet.
In a pair of warm socks on a cold night.
In sea air tangled in my hair.
In winter sun that whispers ‘spring is coming’.
In wildflowers scattered across a meadow.
Happiness, for me, lives in the small things.
And thankfully, they show up every day, if I’m paying attention to them.
